Skincare can be really expensive. Sometimes I don’t even want to try any new products because I have very sensitive skin and do not want to have a reaction. One of the only good things to come out of 2020 are new affordable skincare products and brands. This post is going to cover the first to the last products needed in a basic night time skincare routine.
Cleanse:
I am a firm believer in the Double Cleanse Method. If you want to know more about what the Double Cleanse Method is then feel free to check out my other blog post “What is a Double Cleanse?” I walk you step by step through the method. In the Double Cleans Method you will need a oil or balm based cleanser. The INKEY List Oat Cleansing Balm is the most affordable balm on the market. It is very unlikely you will find a cheaper balm anywhere else.
If you want a gentle and non-stripping face wash the L’OrĂ©al Gentle Makeup Remover is a great choice. This face wash has Vitamin C in it. This ingredient helps your skin to remove dark spots and sunspots. Vitamin C is also a great ingredient to help reduce acne scars.
If you have acne prone skin like me, then the CeraVe Salicylic Acid Cleanser will work wonders for you. This product is gentle, but to see the longterm affects of the Salicylic Acid ingredients you will need to use the cleanser daily for at least a month.
Actives:
Actives are a necessity in your night time routine if you are trying to treat dry skin, sun damage, or prevent premature aging. The INKEY List 15% Vitamin C and EGF Brightening Serum has the highest concentration of Vitamin C on the market with a very affordable price. You should use this daily.
It is important to incorporate retinoid in to your skin care routine when you are in your 20’s. Retinoid is the leading preventer of premature aging. However, do not use your retinoid every night. Start by using it once a week then slowly incorporate it into your skincare routine be be used more frequently. Retinoid used at too fast of a rate can cause your skin to purge. Purging is when your skin is regenerating at a quicker rate then it would on its own causing acne to surface at an accelerated rate. Now this acne would have come about at some other time, but when using too much retinoid the acne can come all at once rather than over a longer span of time which makes it more manageable.
It is important to use a chemical exfoliator. This will help to reduce your chances of producing acne. The INKEY List PHA Toner is a great affordable often. This product will also help to smooth your skin texture. You should use this product 2 to 4 time a week, prior to the Vitamin C and/or retinoid treatments, depending on how your skin reacts to chemical exfoliants.
Moisturize:
If you want a simple, but nourishing moisturizer then the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is a great choice. This moisturizer is easily accessible, since it is sold at most markets, such as Walmart and Target, and online. The product is also scent free. The makes it a great option for sensitive skin, or for a winter routine.
An oil is important for locking in moister from your moisturizer. The INKEY List Rosehip Oil is meant to help with skincare concerns such as acne and blemishes, darks spots, and dullness and uneven texture. I really enjoy using this oil after applying my night moisturizer. Even though this has an oily texture at first, it actually dries down within minutes so that you can go about the rest of your night without feeling like a grease ball.
If you want the best skin of your like I highly recommend trying all of these products! Definitely check out my “What is a Double Cleanse” blog if you need more information on the Double Cleans Method.
